Use Teluk Muroh To Reach Lumut Stadium, Perak Fans Told

Posted on: February 10, 2004

IPOH Feb 9 – Fans going to the AFC Cup tie between Perak and Valencia of Maldives at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMNN) Stadium, Lumut have been advised to use Teluk Muroh to get to the venue.

Perak Football Association deputy-president Datuk Jamal Nasir Rasdi said this was to allow easy access for the stadium-bound fans as they would be spared strict checks by the military authorities.

However those who entered through Lumut town would have to pass strict security screenings, he told reporters here.

“They (fans using Teluk Muroh route) are only required to state their reason for going to the stadium. However they should refrain from breaching the navy regulations,” said Jamal Nasir.

The Lumut Stadium was picked for the match as the Perak Stadium here was being upgraded for the Asian Junior Athletics Championship in June.

Jamal Nasir, who is the Perak team manager, said many fans had complained of difficulty in getting to the stadium due to strict checks by the RMN authorities.

“This (issue) has been resolved. Tickets at RM10 and RM20 each will be available at Perak Stadium from 10 am until 6 pm Tuesday. On match day, it will be sold at Lumut Stadium,” he said.

He said the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah, who is also the Perak FA president would be at the match.

Apart from Valencia and Perak, other teams in the group are Hong Kong club Happy Valley and Singapore’s Home United.
