EPL 2008-09 Season: Agger Tells Reds To Beware Of Bolton

LIVERPOOL: Daniel Agger has warned his teammates that Liverpool’s title challenge will suffer at Bolton Wanderers today unless there is a sharp improvement following the club’s exit from the Carling Cup.
Rafael Benitez’s side suffered their first major setback of the season on Wednesday when they crashed out of the competition following a 4-2 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool remain well placed to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League while they will move three points clear of Chelsea, if only for a couple of hours, at the top of the Premier League table should they triumph in the early kick-off at the Reebok Stadium.
But Denmark international defender Agger insists Liverpool cannot afford any slip ups against Bolton.
“I think it’s easy to say that when you let the opposition score four goals, you won’t win the game,” said Agger. “Our team performance was just not good enough. We were far from strong enough and we have to do better.
“But now we will think about improving against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday — that is all we can do.
“Bolton are a physical and strong team so it will be a tough match for us, but we are focused on making improvements in every area. We definitely have to do better.” — AFP
