Frings’ Future Undecided

BERLIN: German coach Joachim Loew said on Monday that he had not yet made up his mind about whether he would select veteran midfielder Torsten Frings for the friendly with England on Nov 19.
Both have been involved in a war of words since 31-year-old Frings, a member of the German sides that lost in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2008 finals, said he was considering retiring from international football after being left on the bench for the World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Wales.
However, while Frings criticised Loew, it was nowhere near as harsh as that levelled at the coach by German captain Michael Ballack, who was not happy a player of Frings’ experience should be treated in that way.
Loew, though, said Frings’ future was still up in the air, especially as the Werder Bremen midfielder had said later he would fight for his place in the national side. — AFP
